"No idea," Jake said with another shrug, glancing back to the weevil, "I'm not in a position to ask stupid questions." Not if he wanted to be locked back inside, anyway.
He watches the creature for a moment, keeping quiet as it eats, then stops, seeming to sniff the air before simply turning, and heading away. That was good. The soldiers could be as mad as they wanted and it would mean nothing.
He looked back at the other man, about to say something, but froze, looking at the headset. Or the logo on it, more like. It looked more modern than the stuff he was used to, but...
He darted forward, grabbing his arm to pull the headset out of his pocket, looking at it with wide eyes.
"How...where did you get that?"

"Then is there anybody I can ask?"
Or, if not ask, try and find information from in a more subtle way. He certainly didn't want to run into danger searching out an organisation that may or may not have any information on Rose, and may or may not exist, for that matter.
The alien was going away. That was good, and he felt himself relax, not even having been aware that the creature's presence was worrying him all that much.
He almost flinched when the man grabbed his arm, and his first instinct was to shove the headset away and hide it, but what harm would it do, really? It didn't even work, and the place he'd got it from was too far away for it to cause any trouble. He held it up slightly so that the other man could see it.
"Used to work for Torchwood." he explained with a slight shrug.

Jake didn't even seem to hear his question, his eyes wide and fixed on the headset.
"Torchwood..."
The guy worked for Torchwood, but that headset was like from his Torchwood. Not like the ones he'd been looking over in UNIT for Flame.
"How...But...You're hear...That's impossible..." he mumbled, shaking a little. "Where? Where did you work for Torchwood?"

Tony looked from him to the headset, a little concerned by his reaction, trying to figure it out but just ending up more confused. He wouldn't be surprised if it didn't look anything like Torchwood in this decade. It was from twenty years in the future... sort of, sideways, diagonal... he didn't understand it, and his Mum and Dad never explained it very well. Most people weren't even aware that there was another universe, let alone that it ran at a slightly different time at the same time... he was going to have to ask Rose when he found her.
"Yeah. Still do, I guess. Never had a chance to hand in my notice."
He kept staring at his expression, trying to figure out why the other man was so shocked. No, it wasn't just because he knew what it was, or didn't know what it was, but because he recognised it! And he'd said it was impossible, which meant, which meant...
Heart thumping very fast, Tony added "But not... anywhere around here."

Technically, he still worked for Torchwood, didn't he? When he got back. Unless they'd shut down his files because they thought he was dead, of course, but Jake didn't want to think of that, because he wasn't dead. He was just...stuck.
"No..." he whispers hoarsly, dropping his hand from it as if burnt, before actually looking right at him. "Not from here..."
It was from his world, he was sure of it. The logo, the one Mickey and him and scribbed down in the back of the van when bored, which Pete had taken. It was slightly different from the one here, he knew it. Just slightly, but enough.
"And...and neither are you...are you?"
He didn't recognise him, but still...he'd gotten here. That must mean he could help him get home, if he really was from his world... Which Jake hoped he was. Just because he wanted to get out of this world, and get home.

He kept his eyes on him, positive that he was right about this. He must have come from the same place he had. Tony knew it was possible, because his Mum was from this universe, and Rose and Meta had come and gone... but his parents had made it clear that there was no way through.
"No, I'm... really not from here." he confessed, not really admitting to anything in particular, yet, but he was certain that they both knew what they were talking about, here.
But if he had come through around the same time as Rose, and he recognised the Torchwood logo... then maybe he knew Rose. Or at least knew how to get back, since Tony had no idea how he'd got here in the first place.

"No...That logo...it's not from this world. Not this Torchwood..." But Jake was pretty sure this guy was aware of that already. Aware of him perhaps? That would be a good thing, he thought. He wouldn't act like Flame had, not if he was from the same place. From home...it would mean he wasn't as alone as he'd thought.
He didn't reconise him though, and the headset was modern, very modern, but...he had to be from his world. Had to be, even if he wasn't in any of his teams who had crossed. But then...how could he be here?
"What's your name?" he asked quietly, and hesitantly.

"No. Where I come from... Torchwood is huge."
Not so small that nobody could find it. Hell, there were even starting to be motivational campaigns for 'Trust Torchwood' to keep people from losing hope in the sight of total destruction. But that was because there was a worldwide panic, and nobody wanted to admit that their best hope didn't know how to destroy all of the Daleks either.
"I'm Tony Tyler. Who are you?"

"UNIT is the giant organisation in this place," he said quietly, glancing over his shoulder. He was sure the soldiers weren't back yet. He'd know if they were. But someone else like him, in this world, this close to UNIT...that was bad.
He started, staring at the other man, his mouth falling open slightly.
"What?"
It couldn't be...No way could he be the Tony Tyler Jake knew. That Tony was a kid! Jake had babysat him with Mickey on more than one occasion, back home. It had to be a different one. But still...It wasn't the most common name, not back there.
"You...you can't be. Tony Tyler is just a kid!"

"And you... work for them?" he guessed uncertainly.
He did seem to know a lot of everything, about the aliens, although not a lot about Torchwood or where it was. Not in this universe. But Tony didn't know how long he'd been here for, or how much people knew, but he imagined that aliens weren't exactly a well known thing.
"Yeah?" he said at the response to his name, pausing slightly to look at him, before frowning.
"You... you know me? I'm... well, yeah, I was. I'm from the future. 2030, in my... our world."

"Not willingly..." he muttered. After all, if he was willing, he wouldn't want to drop everything and leave, hopefully putting a bullet through Roxanne Flame's brain on his way out. Then again, from what Syd said, lots of people felt that way.
"2030...so...you travelled in time as well? Oh...And...yeah. You could say that. Or I did...if you really are him, but right now, I don't really care whether it's true or not." Not if it was a way to get home. "I'm Jake. Jake Simmonds."

He didn't like the sound of that. But maybe the guy just didn't really like his job. There had been plenty of times at Torchwood that Tony had wanted to get out of there and go back home.
"Yes, I didn't mean to, but I must have..."
He didn't understand it. He was only piecing it together from what his parents had told him over the years, which was very little, and what the man in the cloak had said when he brought him here.
"Jake.... Mickey's friend Jake? Mickey's in this universe now, isn't he? That's what Mum said..."

"He's here... Somewhere, I guess.."
Mickey had talked about staying behind after the saving-realities-trip-thing. In fact, mainly he'd asked Jake whether he minded. And Jake hadn't, because Mickey wanted to. And Mickey wasn't Rickey. Losing him wasn't as hard. He had been planning on looking for him, to see if he had stayed, but hadn't had a chance. Not after running in to UNIT.
"Doubt he knows I'm here..." He turned his head back quickly, staring at him, the hope evident in his expression, "How did you get here? Can you get home?"

"I hadn't thought about it."
He'd mainly been thinking about Rose, and Torchwood, and Mickey was just really a person that his Mum talked about sometimes. He couldn't remember actually meeting him.
Catching Jake's expression, he faltered slightly. If Jake was asking him if he could get home, then that sounded like Jake couldn't... that he was stuck here too.
"I... don't know exactly. This thing... alien... brought me here. But I don't know where it went, or if it can take me back." he said, and then added, since it was worth a try "You don't know how to get home, then...?"

Jake had thought about it. After all, he'd had the time to think. Being locked in with no entertainment every night did that. But he hadn't dared to try anything to find him, not under Flame's eagle eye. He quite liked being alive.
His smile faltered, then fell again, the familier sense of loss filling him. Of course he wouldn't know how to get home. It was stupid to have even asked.
"If I did I would have done it by now," he said blankly, turning his gaze to look at the wall.
He was doing something though...Or UNIT was. He had to hold onto that small hope, no matter how much Syd said it would just hurt. He didn't exactly have anything else.
