Jard left the diagnostic supplies on the counter, slipping a preloaded syringe of mild sedative in his back jeans pocket, just in case.
He came back over and nodded to Jack. "I think we're gonna find out if you know enough of whatever language she speaks."
Jared deliberately threaded his fingers through the woman's. Holding her hand would offer comfort, but also help to contain her if she woke up disoriented. How could she possibly wake up oriented, idiot? This isn't anywhere she knows.
"Get hold of her left hand and talk to her, yeah?"

Jack took the woman's hand and slowly spoke to her in a few dialects he knew, hoping something would resonate with her.
He looked up at Jared and shrugged as he got no response, but at least the woman wasn't panicking yet she was just kind of laying there.
"What do we do now?"

Jared felt a moment of sheer unadulterated panic.
"You're the one who's done this before..." He shook his head slightly. Jack was putting him in charge... fucker. So he needed to actually take charge.
"Okay, take this hand, keep speaking to her, I don't think it matters what you say. Try to keep her calm, and I'll get the blood work going. I'll check for any environmental markers that can confirm or eliminate Japan of the past. Hey, give me that bowl of water, maybe to compostion of the make up will give some clues."

Nodding, Jack did as Jared asked, impressed with the thought processes the medic was showing. It really was a shame the man wouldn't take a more full time role with him, didn't mean he would stop asking though. For now he focussed most of his attention on the woman still laying placidly still.
He squeezed her hand in a sign of comfort and smiled slightly when he felt her squeeze it back. Nodding at her this time, Jack smiled and pointed to himself with his other hand. "Jack."

Jared glanced over at the pair as he worked to analyze the makeup she'd been wearing. He smiled as Jack shared his name.
"Making friends?" he asked gently, non-threateningly. "You would make a good medic if you ever got tired of being the general," he told Jack with half a grin. "Got it! Edo era, probably seventeenth century with the low content of heavy metals..." He stopped saying the rest. It hardly mattered. "Old Tokyo, very old Tokyo."

"I don't know that era but I know a few phrases.. I'll try something..." he said, looking intently on the woman again, "Namae wa nandesu ka?" he asked, wondering if he could ask and get her name he could try and make her feel at ease, and then of course run a search on anyone matching that name. You never knew when you could get lucky, records went way back and it was worth a try.
"I'd make a lousy doctor," he smiled to Jared, "I'd be sued for sexual harrasment by every patient, living or dead."

'That could be a problem," Jared agreed. "See if you can get her to understand that we're going to help her."
Jared needed to draw some blood but causing her pain right off wasn't a great approach.

The woman seemed to recognise some of Jack's words in bastardized Japanese but she didn't reply, simply nodded instead. He tried again, "Doko no shusshin desu ka?" he asked where she was from, hoping that might be a phrase that hadn't changed too much over the decades. A tiny and timid voice spoke then, "Kyoto..."
Jack lean't closer and repeated her word, "Kyoto..." he nodded and smiled reassuringly at her and looked to Jared, it was a start.

Jared made a snap decision and tucked the blood draw supplies away. She didn't seem in immediate peril.
"Will you ask if she's hungry?" Jared suggested as he stood and walked to the stairs. He wasn't an ace in the kitchen by any means but he could manage some egg drop soup which was really the only class of food he as a doctor would clear to offer at the moment anyway.
Jack could probably cook, but Jack needed to be the good guy.
