"Oh, that's his name?" the Doctor replied, not having particularly thought about it, other than that he was Torchwood, and had a gun "This is Cardiff, though, not very interesting, is it?"
That was a fairly awkward way of expressing his disapproval for Torchwood (admittedly waning) and his reluctance to let Jenny spend a moment here more than he had to. It would be more dangerous than back on Messaline, since the Rift was the dumping ground of everything alien.. and he understood that Jack was doing as good job as he could. He did. But that didn't mean he wanted his daughter to stay here...
"Sort of gone. Yeah. But she's safe, and happy. With her family."
But he missed her. She had been his... yes, his best friend.

She nodded, "Yep. He said he was going to show me around. Like a date. It'll be fun, because I want to look around, but didn't want to on my own, and Jack's always so busy. And so? Still Earth."
She was arguing back...Well, she had done that before. It wasn't so unusual. But she was...what had Jack said? In shock, that was it, although she didn't feel very shocked anymore. More...still slightly wary. But those were bad feelings, and she was getting over them now because she didn't like being sad.
"That's good. Well...sad. I liked Donna. She was nice," she said sadly, before looking at him again. He hadn't sounded like he liked it that she was here...On this planet. "You're not going to vanish again, are you?" she asked quietly.

"Oh, good. Wait, what? Like a what? He'd better be joking." he said with a series of blinks, looking straight at her before picking his head slightly "No. Most of Earth is brilliant, there's no point in staying in Cardiff, not Torchwood, not here..."
No, he didn't doubt that Torchwood had improved in his estimations. But he didn't want to lose her again.
"I have to go. I can't stay here. Do you want to stay?" he asked, painfully, looking away.

"I...I just want to have a look around..." she said, looking at him with a small, worried from.
He was going to leave again...because he couldn't stay. He said so. But, Jenny enjoyed looking around, and the people here were nice to her, Jack had been nice, and Jared... and...well, going with him would mean going back in the ship, and although she had forgiven easily, and changed her mind about him, because that was what she did, she didn't want to be locked in again.
"Not even for just a little bit?"

"Oh, yeah, looking around is okay. I might want to look around."
He hadn't seen around Jack's Torchwood, after all. He'd never had the time... maybe, or the inclination. Not because of Jack... not really. He didn't think so. It wasn't that, but he still hadn't wanted to come here.
"A little bit? I don't usually stay, not anywhere, not places to be and things to do..."

"You could call it a holiday?"
No matter how worried and afraid and...freaked out she had been, when she'd first seen him, he'd proven that he was the Doctor, was her dad, now. And she didn't want him to go, not yet. She wanted to go with him, of course, but...the ship thing again. She wouldn't mention that though, because that was silly and childlike.
"Yeah, it could be a holiday! You like humans! I've never met humans, apart from the soldiers on Messaline and Donna and Martha. But only really talked to Donna, and she was nice. These humans are nice too, and there's more of them."

"A holiday?" he asked, a little warily, and with a small pause to consider the idea of that "I do have holidays! But I have stuff to do right now..."
No, he didn't. He really didn't have anything better to do. At all. But thinking about a holiday was a little scary. It sounded like staying somewhere for a while, staying still and not doing anything, and that was scary because he hadn't stopped anywhere, barely stopping to think since he'd walked away from Donna's house in the rain. He didn't know if he could do that.
"Well, yeah, they're alright. Might be able to stay a bit."
But in his hearts, he didn't think that he would. He felt as though he was going to leave.

Jenny beamed, all traces of wariness and fear left gone, replaced instead by her smile. A holiday. That would be good, for him, and she would get to stay a bit longer. Because she liked this place and the people so far, and didn't want to be left behind by him again, and this would help both things, wouldn't it?
"Yes. Please. That would be good, I think!" she kept smiling, walking backwards up the steps though, "I can make tea now...If you're staying...Would you like a cup?"

He smiled back, feeling slightly guilty about that, even though he actually had nothing to feel bad about yet. He hadn't left her, he hadn't run off, and he didn't want to do; he'd only just found her. But he wasn't sure if he could stay anywhere, and he didn't think he could stay here, in Torchwood. Though he did want to, to make her happy, and he knew that if he ever left, he might not come back. He couldn't let that happen.
"Tea? Yeah, I'd love a cuppa. With milk, two sugars."

Jenny paused slightly, looking at him for a moment, then blinked. "A cuppa? That's still tea, right? Ok. Milk and sugar..."
She giggled slightly. Those sugar bags had taken her by suprise last time, just as she'd told Jared. All she had done was open the cuboard door, and they'd jumped on her. But they were put away now, sort of, as Jared had helped her with that. She could use them now, to make tea with milk and two sugars. That would be easy.
"I can make that," she said with a grin, skipping up the steps, "I can. It's...I'm..." she paused for a moment, before smiling softly, "I'm glad you're here. Can make it to make you welcome, like Jack did for me."

"Yeah, it's short for 'a cuppa tea'." he explained, his hands in the pocket of his brown jacket as he stepped forwards to watch her "Tea's good. Saved my life, once, a cup of tea."
He nodded, and followed her.
"Okay then. I'm glad too." he said, with a smile.
That was true. He was glad that she was alive and that he had found her. That was more important then anything else.

"Oh..." she paused, considering that, "That makes sense. Cuppa tea. Cuppa. Sounds nice?" she blinked, watching him with her mouth slightly open, "Did it? Really? How?"
A cup of tea saving someone's life? It didn't sound like much of a weapon, a cup of tea. But she guessed it could have been. You could throw it at someone, after all.
"I can do it. I can. I'll make it, and bring it to you here, ok?" she said, a little quickly, as he started following her.
It wasn't that Jenny didn't want to be with him, because she did. He was her dad. But...making tea would mean she could think about something else, and then she could come back and everything would be back to normal. And she would be able to forget the fear she'd felt when she'd first seen him.

"Yeah, somebody's Mum made it for me..." he found he still couldn't quite say Rose's name without being prompted "...and I had regeneration sickness. Brought me right up to health again. Good old cuppa, does wonders."
He stepped back as she spoke and inclined his head in agreement, standing still. He'd stay here if she wanted him to. So he pushed his hands further in his pockets and leant back on his heels slightly.
"Sounds brilliant." he encouraged with another grin, and stood to wait for her.

Regeneration sickness? She'd have to ask him about that. She wasn't sure what regeneration was, but it sounded right about something, and she'd never felt the desperate need to drink tea. Until coming here, for course.
She nodded, smiling at him, before turning and heading up the rest of the steps, and out of the doorway. She needed to think, really, and get rid of the bad thoughts. Her dad was here. Alive! Not...not lying in a pool of his own blood...She shuddered, for once not looking around as she headed through the hub. She'd make tea, bring it back, and it'd been fine. Because they were staying for a bit, he'd said so. She still wanted to look around, after all.
